Ms. Woods is the school social worker for Lyman Elementary. She is responsible for supporting students and advocating for their emotional, mental, and physical well-being. Responsibilities of the social worker include counseling students in order to maximize coping skills, conflict resolution, as well as crisis intervention strategies in order to improve student success.  Ms. Woodss works with students in order to teach social and emotional concepts, which are taught through one-on-one sessions. She uses Why Try Groups and the Overcoming Obstacles curriculum. The school social worker directs students and families to sources in the community that can offer support. She is a resource for those students registered as MVP. It is also our goal to strengthen parental involvement and to ensure the educational rights of unaccompanied youth.
