History isn’t just found in textbooks. It lives in the stories of our neighbors, the memories passed down through generations, and the places that make our community special!
Through their project, The History of Lyman, our gifted Journey students in grades 2–6 have taken on the roles of historians, photographers, researchers, architectural experts, and web designers as they uncover the people, places, and events that shaped our school and community.
From interviewing community leaders and researching historical sources to dressing in period costumes and recreating five significant moments in Lyman’s history, these students have brought the past to life in ways that extend far beyond the classroom!
One of the highlights of their journey took place last Monday when students had the incredible opportunity to participate in a roundtable discussion with Mr. Archie Reeves, the great-grandson of Lyman Reeves himself! What a special opportunity to connect with a living piece of our community’s history!
🏛️ Now, they’re ready to share their hard work with YOU!

🎉 Living Life Local Event
We invite our Lyman families and community members to visit The History of Lyman, a student-created exhibit celebrating the rich history of our school and the community we proudly call home. Students will also officially launch their project website during the event!
We could not be prouder of the creativity, dedication, curiosity, and hard work these students have poured into this project. They aren't just learning about history. They're becoming storytellers and helping preserve Lyman's legacy for future generations!
And their journey doesn't end here! 🌲 Their work will continue to be showcased in December at the Festival of Trees!
